Founding Engineer

About the role

As a founding engineer, you’ll help decide what to build and write the code that makes it work. Your decisions will shape the product, architecture, and engineering team.

The work crosses data infrastructure, business objects, agents, workflows, and user interfaces. A project might connect a customer’s systems, build an application, or change a service that supports it.

What you’ll do

• Build core data, agent, workflow, and application capabilities. Define service boundaries and APIs, then carry the implementation into use.
• Work with customers to understand a workflow, connect the relevant systems, and deliver an application that helps the people doing the job.
• Make the software dependable: investigate failures, improve performance, and handle permissions and recovery around agent actions.
• Turn lessons from implementations into reusable platform capabilities. Review designs and code, and help build the founding engineering team.

Skills & qualifications

Minimum qualifications

• You have designed and delivered a substantial system and taken responsibility for its behavior in production.
• You have depth in software design, data modeling, or distributed systems, and can reason across the interface, API, database, and infrastructure.
• You can turn an ambiguous goal into a technical plan and write the critical code yourself.
• You can work directly with customers, explain tradeoffs, and stay with a problem through implementation and use.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience building data infrastructure, developer platforms, enterprise integrations, or distributed workflows.
• Experience building AI agents with tools, evaluations, and action controls.
• A company, open-source project, or substantial system you helped build from the beginning.
